Zachary’s reopens in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – An iconic Columbus restaurant reopened after fire damaged most of the building.

Renovations have been underway for about five months at Zachary’s. Fire heavily damaged the building back in April.

Owner Doug Pellum and employees worked to clean and demo as much as the could.

Loyal patrons raised money to help employees keep a paycheck, while they volunteered at various organizations.

Pellum and his crew were thankful for that support and to be back serving up some their customer’s favorite dishes.

“We just want to thank the community for supporting us while we were down. We had so many people bringing us food to eat while we were cleaning up. We have people with the GoFundMe account, the Big Payback Fundraiser we had for our employees. We just want to thank everybody in the community. The community has been outstanding for us,” said Pellum.

Zachary’s will operate during its normal business hours.
