Zachary’s hosts charity concert for woman and her battle with cancer
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Zachary’s hosted a charity concert for a woman and her battle with cancer.
When employees at the local restaurant Zachary’s learned of a community member’s cancer diagnosis, they wanted to help.
Deanna Robinson is a photographer at the Commercial Dispatch. She was recently diagnosed with cancer.
For Alec Hawkins and Toby Hartleroad, it made sense to turn to their place of work to put together a fundraiser.
“We both work here and we’ve been in the community for a long time. Specifically with the arts, and being that Deanna is a photographer and everybody knows her it was just a no-brainer that Zachary’s does a charity event for her,” Hawkins said.
The event was a charity concert featuring many local acts.
Zachary’s often hosts charity events to help members of the community in need.
General Manager Dow Ford said he likes to encourage a helpful spirit in his employees.
“I have a habit of saying that it is nice to be able to impact the lives of the staff, and what I mean by that is get these young men and women into a program where they can feel good about doing something for someone without expecting anything in return,” Ford said.
Deanna was amazed and grateful to see the community come out and support her in her journey.
“I’m amazed at the number of people who have shown up today. I have been to a lot of these benefits, just not on this side of it and it is very humbling to see all these people here for me. I’m very thankful to see how many people came to show their love and support for me,” Robinson said.
