Young MSU fan experiences homecoming like no other
He loves His Mississippi State bulldogs so much, that Luke wanted to use his wish through the Make-a-wish foundation to take a visit.
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Luke Shappley, has been a fighter since early on in his life. When he was almost two, he began experiencing persistent GI problems.
After rounds and rounds of tests, an eventual MRI found a tumor on Luke’s Brain Stem.
“They identified the tumor as well as how serious the condition was, and because of that, Luke had the procedure in less than two weeks,” said his mother, Jennifer Shappley.
After the surgery, Luke lost the ability to swallow and had to re-learn to walk.
In November 2019, they found out Luke Needed chemotherapy and began traveling back and forth from Tuscaloosa to St. Jude in Memphis.
Now that he is back home, he is getting to do many exciting things.
“For now, he has great comprehension, increased mobility, and loves his bulldogs,” Jennifer said.
He loves His Mississippi State bulldogs so much, that Luke wanted to use his wish through the Make-a-wish foundation to take a visit.
“It just made sense,” Jennifer said. “Why wouldn’t we do something with Mississippi State.”
Make-A-Wish Alabama brought in Make-Wish Mississippi to help make Luke’s wish come true and give him a three-day unforgettable experience at MSU.
On Thursday, Luke got to hang out with Bully and visit the Hump, where he got a special jersey with his name on it.
On Friday, Luke signed a letter of intent to play baseball and football at MSU.
“He officially became a Mississippi state Bulldog that day,” Jennifer said.
Among many things Luke did that weekend, he loved the dog walk.
“Bully is our best friend,” Jennifer said.
His Family said they are grateful for the experience and go dawgs.
