Woman to Be Sentenced in Fraud Case

ABERDEEN (AP) – A federal judge has scheduled a Jan. 7 sentencing hearing for a woman charged with receiving more than $140,000 in Social Security benefits payments that she wasn’t entitled to.

The indictment in the case says Minnie Carr William received the money from 1982 to 2008 after concealing the death of Elizabeth Strong of Clay County. The indictment doesn’t describe the relationship between the two women.

Williams pleaded guilty to one count in September.

She will be sentenced in U.S. District Court in Aberdeen.
