Woman Ordered to Pay Damages in Clay Cycle Accident
CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A Clay County woman is ordered to repay an insurance company more than 220 thousand dollars in a near-fatal bicycle accident.
Cedar Bluff resident Robbie Norton was ordered to pay Metropolitan Casualty for the benefits it paid Starkville biker Jan Morgan for injuries she suffered in May 2011 when she was run over by Norton as she biked along Highway 50 in western Clay County.
Norton did not contest the insurance company’s claims in Clay County Circuit Court.
She previously was fined $250, given a six-month suspended jail sentence and ordered to do public service announcements about drivers and bicycle safety after being found guilty of simple assault for hitting Morgan.
Morgan spent months recovering from her injuries.
