Woman Faces Cyberstalking Charges
LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A few texts and e-mails were bothersome enough, but dozens of them were too much. Now a Lowndes County woman is charged with cyberstalking.
Sheriff’s investigators say 38-year-old Amy Richards of Steens was charged with three counts of cyberstalking after repeatedly sending threatening messages to her ex-husband’s girlfriend. Detectives say the messaging has been going on for weeks.
Area law enforcement agencies say phone and computer technology have made cyber threats one of their biggest new crimes, sometimes escalating from a nuisance to physical violence.
