Woman Dies in Prentiss County Accident

PRENTISS COUNTY, Miss. — The Mississippi Highway Patrol continues to investigate a two-vehicle crash on Highway 30 Bypass, involving a dump truck.

Troopers responded to the scene at approximately 7:45am, at the intersection of Prentiss County Road 5031 and the new Highway 30.

Upon arriving it appeared Betty Turvaville, 71, of Booneville, was traveling south on County Road 5031, in a 2005 Dodge Caravan, when she apparently pulled into the path of an east bound dump truck.

The 1998 Mac dump truck was operated by Paul Grant, 57, of Ecru.

A passenger in the van received fatal injuries from the crash. Becky A Hatfield, 35, of Booneville, was ejected from the van an was pronounced dead on the scene.

Turvaville was transported with critical injuries to NMMC in Tupelo.

Grant was not injured in the crash.
