Winston County 5th graders graduate D.A.R.E. program
LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Fifth graders across Winston County take a pledge to keep drugs out of their lives.
The students graduated from D.A.R.E. today at Louisville Elementary School.
Each school in the county participated in the weeks long educational drug and alcohol prevention program.
While illegal activities have been the focus for years, law enforcement also talk to the kids about life choices.
“But we also talk about how to make safe and responsible decisions. We look at risks and consequences. We look at our resistance strategies, how to get away from a situation that we don’t want to be in. We also look at how we need to communicate with one another in verbal and non-verbal communication and how to deal with stress,” says Tonya McWhirter.
Awards were given to students for some of their work.
