Williams Resigns as ICC Head Football Coach
FULTON, Miss. (WCBI/LetsGoICC.com) – Itawamba Community College has confirmed head football coach Jon Williams has accepted a position as the new assistant head coach and director of player personnel with the University of Southern Mississippi football program.
Williams spent seven seasons at ICC and served as the head coach for the past four seasons. He had a career record of 21-16 with three runner-up finishes in the MACJC North and one playoff appearance.
Williams helped lead ICC to one of their best seasons in school history this past year, as the Indians began the season winning their first five games and rising to as high as 4th in the NJCAA Top 20 football poll.
The Panama City, Florida native was head coach at Locust Fork High School in Alabama before arriving at ICC. He’s a member of the American Football Coaches Association, he was head coach at Simpson Academy, where he compiled a 21-3 record, won two district championships, had an undefeated regular season, finished runner-up in the Mississippi High School Athletic Association South State en route to earning Coach of the Year honors.
ICC has said they will be seeking a replacement to Williams immediately.
