Wet Weather Continues; Cooler Air Returns Tomorrow.
TODAY: A cold front slowly drifts south of our area today, leading to overcast skies and a few scattered showers. Highs in the low 70s, with temperatures falling after 2 pm. Southwest wind in the early morning at 6-12 mph shifting to northwesterly by early afternoon. Chance of rain around 30%.
TONIGHT: More showers filling in overnight. Overcast, with lows in the mid 50s.
WEDNESDAY: An upper level disturbance approaches the area Wednesday providing enough lift to squeeze out some rain across the area. A few showers possible during the day, but the best rain chances will hold off until after sundown into the late night hours. Highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Overnight lows in the mid 40s. Chance of rain around 60%.
THURSDAY: A few lingering showers possible in the early morning, especially pre-sunrise. Rain should be into central Alabama by mid morning. Highs in the low 60s with decreasing clouds through the day. Overnight lows drop into the upper 30s and lower 40s.
FRIDAY: Mostly sunny and nice as weak ridging builds in overhead, bringing surface high pressure. Highs in the mid 60s, with an overnight low in the low 40s.
VETERANS DAY: A bit warmer as the ridge builds in a little more. Mostly sunny with highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s. Overnight, an isolated shower will be possible after midnight. Otherwise increasing clouds with a low around 50.
SUNDAY: Another weaker shortwave trough moves through the area bringing along a cold front at the surface. A couple of isolated showers will be possible as the front dives south. Mostly cloudy, with highs in the upper 60s. Overnight lows in the low to mid 40s.
NEXT WEEK: Models solutions diverge next week, with the GFS tending to build high pressure and warmer weather across the area, with the European model indicating more zonal/toughing and thus a bit more cool pattern. For now, it does appear a temperate airmass will be in place at least for Monday, but the long term forecast for next week is still unclear.
