WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – Students and faculty in West Point wore pink Tuesday (10/16) in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness month.
First and second graders at Churchill Elementary performed their “Warriors Against Breast Cancer” chant during an assembly. The West Point School District asked students, faculty and staff to show their support for breast cancer by wearing pink.
Officials hope that the gesture shows solidarity for those who have been affected by the disease. West Point High School student Aliah Wilson has a family member who’s battling breast cancer.
“I know my aunt has breast cancer but it’s just something everybody needs to be aware of. They need to go get checked regularly.”
The theme of today’s event was Support, Hope and A Cure.
