West Point Based Filmmaker Wins ‘Best Of Show’ At Tupelo Film Festival
TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – The 12th annual Tupelo Film Festival has wrapped up and filmmakers were recognized for their hard work.
The three day film festival brought in filmmakers, directors, actors and fans from around the world. Sixty four films were shown on two screens at the Malco in Tupelo.
An awards ceremony wrapped up the event. Awards were given for best Short, Music Video, Documentary, Feature, Student, and “The Ron Tibbett Best of Show Award ” went to a local filmmaker for a movie called “Ozland.”
“This is ten years since my first film festival acceptance and Tupelo was my first film festival acceptance, so being a decade later and getting this recognition for the hard work my team and I put into this film is amazing because it is a group effort and it’s everybody’s job to create this vision of Ozland, knowing that people liked it and not only we got awards but just the audience themselves liked it, people showed up to watch it, it’s what really means the most,” Williams said.
“Ozland” is about two survivors in a post apocalyptic world, and their adventures after finding a copy of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”
