Webster County deputies collect gifts for families in need
WEBSTER COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The people of Webster County are giving Santa and his elves a helping hand this Christmas.
For several years now, the Webster County Sheriff’s Office has been organizing a toy drive to help families that may be having a hard time providing Christmas gifts.
Sheriff David Gore is quick to point out that while his deputies and staff join in the giving and organize and distribute the gifts, it’s the residents of Webster County who provide the most support.
He has some people who will call him before the drive starts wanting to know what they can do to help.
And he appreciates all of the support because the need is so great.
“We see some really sad sights in the process of doing our job, and I’m just glad we have some opportunity to give back and to reach out to those who may not have anything at all. Because in this day and time, you think everybody has everything, but it’s just not that way,” said Gore.
December 20 is the last day to donate to the toy drive. The Sheriff’s Office also organizes a coat drive during the winter.
