VIDEO: Zachary’s Hosts Fundraiser for Hurricane Victims

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Hurricane Harvey may be behind us, but the damage it leaves still remains.

There have been efforts across the nation, making donations and raising money, to aid all of those affected.

Columbus thought they’d play their part.

Zachary’s and Huck’s partnered up to give out burgers, wings, and drinks to raise money for those impacted by the storm.

This isn’t the first time they’ve held a fundraiser like this, and it seems the community is taking a liking to it.

“We’re usually closed on Sundays, so this is a great situation we’re in that we’re able to host something like this,” says owner Doug Pellum.

For five hours, people poured into Zachary’s to enjoy good food and live entertainment, putting their money towards a good cause.

“All the proceeds, 100%, go to the relief for the victims affected by hurricane Harvey,” says Pellum.

The partnership between Zachary’s and Huck’s isn’t new.

Several months ago, they held a similar event.

“…and we said you know this is something we need to start doing more often, and so Zachary’s and Huck’s are combing together to start doing more events like this,” says Pellum.

Though the main area affected by the storm is miles away, the community still appreciates efforts like this one to lend a helping hand.

“I have a daughter living in Houston. They need a lot of help. Hats off to Doug Pellum for supporting and Hucks,” says Pellum.

It looks like it won’t be long until another fundraiser is held.

The goal for this event was 5 to 10 thousand dollars, something management told us they believe is easily attainable.
