Video: Woomer Family Tradition Continues at U.S. Naval Academy

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — A tradition continued today at Starkville High School.

Senior Emily Woomer, a track star with the Yellowjackets Track and Field Team, signed her letter of intent to continue her track career with the United States Naval Academy.

Emily will be joining her two older brothers, who already are in Annapolis at the Naval Academy.

A star sprinter with the Starkville High track team, Emily is currently the fastest Mississippi high school female runner in the indoor 400-meter dash. She has been on the varsity girls track team since she was in the 8th grade.

Emily’s mother, Caroline, is the girls track coach at Starkville and says she looks forward to seeing her daughter pave the way for more talented sprinters to join the Naval Academy in the future.
