COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-A Columbus woman and her family lost their home in a fire last month and now the community is stepping up to help out just in time for the holidays. The Community Resource Connection brought Simone Davis together with the 41st Spouses Club of the Columbus Air Force Base. The Club donated everything from clothes, to house ware, toys and bath towels. Davis lost her home on November 27th after a grease fire got out of control. There’s been an outpouring of support for Davis and her family and she says the support is much appreciated. “I would like to say thank you to everyone that’s reached out, that’s called, that’s done anything to help. No matter how big or how small they think it is, it really means a lot to us,” said Simone Davis. Laura Gentile of the 41st Spouse Club said, “We were just grateful that we had the opportunity to help a family. That we have the money to donate and go out and as a collective group, go and find these things for this family.” The Community Resource Connection is based in Columbus and has helped connect families in need find the appropriate resources since 2004.
