Video: West Point Customers to Pay More for Water and Sewer

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) -West Point water and sewer customers will see their bills increase.

Selectmen approved the rate hike to pay for repairs and higher operating costs.

Residential rates for water will go from $23.00 – $30.00. Sewer service will increase to $21.00. Commercial customers will see a three dollar hike but sewer rates will remain the same.

City leaders say passing along higher bills to residents wasn’t an easy decision.

“I can promise you they have put a lot of diligent effort into looking at this because if we are going to have a rate increase I assure you they have to believe that it’s necessary.”

The rate increases take effect October first.
