Video: WCBI’s “Biggest Buck” Winner

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – He spent 14 years in the majors, was named to three all-star games, won a gold medal in the Olympics, pitched in the World Series and was M-V-P of the National League Championship series. But Weir resident Roy Oswalt may be more famous now for a monster buck he killed this fall.
The 12-point buck scored over 204 on the Boone and Crockett scale and has attracted statewide attention in hunting circles. And it also is the top entry in WCBI’s Biggest Buck competition, edging out several other entries from across the region. Oswalt took the deer in southern Lowndes County from a stand similar to the one he won from Waters Truck and Tractor as part of our competition. Oswalt says the rush ranks up there with some of his big sports moments.

“Hunting is something I’ve always loved and I think the adrenaline rush when a deer like this walks out, you can’t compare it to anything because of how quickly your adrenaline goes up versus baseball where you wait all day long to get to the game.”

Oswalt also won a freezer from Mitchell Distributing. The long-time hunter says one of special things about his retirement is being able to share time with his three daughters.
