Video: WCBI Educator of the Week
ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) –There’s a classroom in Aberdeen where hands are always raised, books are always open, and the excitement never ends.
Students come ready and eager to learn at Aberdeen Elementary School, especially when class is in session for Mrs. Bell’s class.
Inside this classroom there’s a teacher that’s motivating her students with a little incentive and a lot of love.
“I just love working with children. I love the way they relate to me. If they have a problem they will talk to me about it.”
Whether it’s a Math problem or a problem at home, First Grade teacher Amy Bell helps her students solve it.
That’s why Mrs. Bell is the WCBI Educator of the Week. We surprised her with the camera rolling.
“Oh my goodness I am so happy!”
“Mrs. Bell is extremely loving and caring. and developing a relationship with her students is first and foremost. and then she’s able to reach them like no other person can.”
She acts like a mom during class; motivating them to do their best and look their best.
“She loves her students as if they were her own. She teaches with passion, and she makes sure her students get what they need each and everyday.”
In a way, Mrs. Bell is getting what she needs too. She says the bonds built with her students have taught her valuable lessons that aren’t always learned at the chalkboard.
“It makes me want to be a better teacher, because kids go through a lot at home. And so if they have a relationship with me that will make them want to come and tell me about it. I want them to trust me.”
