WATER VALLEY, Miss. (WCBI) — Its Main Street organization has been named the best in the state. And next week, the national director is coming to town.
But Water Valley city leaders say they have a dirty little secret — litter.
Aldermen and local garden clubs have been taking to the streets themselves to pick trash they say clutters road sides from one end of town to the other. But they say they need help from citizens.
They are looking into ways to promote anti-litter campaigns among property owners to get the town cleaned up and keep it that way.
The effort is part of broader discussions into cracking down on overgrown lots and dilapidated houses.
