Video: Verona Students Get Insider’s View of State Politics
VERONA, Miss. (WCBI) – Second graders at one Northeast Mississippi elementary school got a lesson in state government from an inside source.
District Six State Senator Chad McMahan talked to students at Verona Elementary.
Senator McMahan explained the differences between the local, state and federal governments, and he also told the youngsters how laws created in Jackson affect them.
He also fielded questions from the youngsters.
“I’m not an educator, but it’s an opportunity for me to tour public school systems throughout the district, and get an opportunity to get to speak with educators, and parents and the children about what’s taking place in our school systems.”
Senator McMahan has visited several schools in the district, as part of a listening tour.
