VIDEO: US Travelling Cyclist Makes Pit Stop in Tupelo

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)- He’s biked enough miles to wrap around the entire Earth to raise money for cancer research, and he now finds himself taking a pit stop in Tupelo.

Flynn Donoho has been biking across the country since 2011 for the American Cancer Society.

Cancer research is something that is near and dear to him, and the milestones that he has reached shows how much he cares.

Flynn Donoho has biked long distances before, but for the past 6 years, his efforts support a good cause the American Cancer Society.

“I asked them if I could raise money for them. I rode six thousand miles across the United States and back, and I figured why not do it for a charity. So I picked cancer because it was very prevalent in my family. My sister-in-law is a 6 month breast cancer survivor. My younger brother, he just recently, 1 month ago, had prostate cancer surgery,” said Donoho.

Now, Donoho is at over forty thousand miles, almost double of what his original goal was.

“I started out of California. I wanted to go through 48 states, and now I’ve already been through all 48 states almost twice. I’ve got 16 more to go,” said Donoho.

The fifty-eight year old has biked most of them with his Red Heeler Chow mix, Diva.

“How long has she been with you? She’s been with me five years,” said Donoho.

Donoho has seen the four corners of the U.S., so he’s prepared for almost any situation that nature may throw at him.

“You got tent, sleeping bag. Then below that is a bag of dog food a ton of water bottles, and then you have two tarps for weather when you sleep and then you have tools,” said Donoho.

Through all of the places he’s been, the speeches he’s given, the people he’s met and the hardships faced- Donoho said it’s been quite an experience.

“I’ve always wanted to see the United States, so I thought this would be a great way,” said Donoho.
