Video: Unity Park Civil Rights Monument Complete

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) -Starkville’s Unity Park monument to Mississippi Civil Rights leaders is complete. Community leaders joined the park’s committee to unveil the final panel dedicated to Mississippi Civil Rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer.
The park has a series of large panels…depicting people and events that have improved race relations in Starkville, the state, and the nation.
“We feel that Unity Park is a way to tell the untold stories of American history because African-American history is American history”.
“Fannie Lou Hamer has always impressed me because of the hardships that she endured fighting for equal rights.”
Other panels honor the late Dr. Douglas Connor, Medgar Evers and former Mississippi governor, William Winter.
