Video: United Way and GTPDD Helping Seniors Keep Their Cool

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – A major retailer teams up with two area agencies to help senior citizens stay cool.

A team from Lowe’s dropped off over 350 new box fans at the Golden Triangle Planning Development District’s Office in Starkville on Monday.

The fans were paid for by a an anonymous donor grant to the United Way of North Central Mississippi.

GTPDD will distribute the fans in Choctaw, Oktibbeha, Webster, and Winston Counties to Senior Citizens who either don’t have air conditioning, or are having trouble paying their electric bills.

“Be able to be a little more comfortable in this record breaking heat that we are experiencing, that comes in August and September. And this is going to the seniors that are home bound.”
