TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – The Tennessee Valley Authority is looking for input on how to best provide the most efficient and cost effective electricity to its customers.
Tuesday night, board members held a public meeting to discuss the Authority’s Integrated Resource Plan, a long term blueprint of TVA’s energy planning decisions.
Vice President Joe Hoagland says its all about what kind of electricity generating sources TVA will use in the future.
“Historically that’s been coal gas nuclear. We still see all those as very important options. But this particular Integrated Resource Plan is also showing us that we need to focus more on energy efficiency. We need to focus more on renewables and more gas. The end result for us being a more balanced portfolio.”
TVA provides the electricity to 155 different local power companies including those serving Tupelo, the first TVA City.
