TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Tupelo High School’s new blue athletic field will be named after a hometown bank.
This morning, Tupelo School District officials and executives with Renasant Bank announced the new blue field will be called “Renasant Field.”
The $1.3 million project to install blue turf and resurface the track at the high school was approved earlier this week by the school board.
Most of the cost will be paid for through sponsorships, and Renasant Bank will be the primary sponsor.
Construction will begin in mid May. The new turf and track will be ready for football season in the Fall.
Tupelo High School will be the only high school in the continental United States with blue turf.
