Video: Tupelo Native Honored with Exhibit at CVB

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A Tupelo native gets a big honor at the Convention and Visitors Bureau offices. On Monday, a new exhibit was unveiled chronicling the career of Guy Hovis. For years, Hovis was a regular on the “Lawrence Welk Show” and after that, he worked for retired Senator Trent Lott.
Hovis attended the unveiling of the music exhibit and said it’s important to recognize those hometown folks who have helped put the state on the entertainment map.
“I think it’s always very important to recognize people from your community who have had some measure of success in their field.And we have quite a few entertainers, from here, starting back before the King of Rock and Roll.We have some people really contribute to the music business and they’ve been honored here.”
The Guy Hovis Exhibit will be on display through December.Past exhibits have included Merle “Red” Taylor, Mosley and Johnson and Homer Ray Harris.
