Video: Tupelo Leaders to Conduct Survey to Identify Potentially Dangerous Trees

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Since a tragic accident in Tupelo,  city leaders are taking steps to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Mayor Jason Shelton has contacted the state forestry commission and requested an inventory of trees on public property to check for any unsafe conditions.

“As a city we want to do everything we possibly can to make sure that nothing like this ever happens again in the city of Tupelo.”

City officials say the inventory will cover 330 miles of street right of ways, about 490 miles of utility lines, and more than 600 acres of city parks.

They ask residents to contact city hall if they know of any unsafe trees on public property.
