TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -The Fifty second annual Charity Ball was held Friday night in Tupelo. It is an evening of living ads, music and food and all proceeds help the Junior Auxiliary fund a number of programs that impact many lives.
WCBI’s Allie Martin has one example.
One day a week, this first grade class at Parkway Elementary learns about a character trait. Teachers for “Integrity Time” are volunteers who are members of the Junior Auxiliary.
“It goes through the alphabet teaching them different characteristics in order to have integrity.”
Lessons are fast paced and include a story time
And music
Teachers are grateful for the program, one of many funded by the annual Charity Ball.
“They learn so many positive character traits, I hear them when they are doing their centers and they say’
“Are you being a ‘Positive Polly’ or a ‘Negative Narl”, are you being a ‘Helpful Henry’? They know what character traits are and they put them into use.”
Students look forward to the weekly lessons.
“You behave really good and you just behave nice and positive.”
“What’s your favorite part?”
“We get to learn how to be, enthusiastic.”
Integrity Time reaches about 140 students every week. In Tupelo I’m Allie martin WCBI News.
