TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -Tupelo High School Girl’s Varsity Basketball team spend part of their day helping a city leader clean up a park. The athletes met Councilwoman Nettie Davis at the Green Street Grove, where they were given a quick history lesson of the park. Then, it was time for work.
The young ladies helped pull up weeds, plant flowers, and pick up trash.Davis says it takes the entire community to help keep the park beautiful.
“It really demands a lot of attention to keep it groomed like it should be so, from time to time, I have a Girl Scout troop that’s going to come in and do a project in another week or two , to earn a badge so I think it involves all segments of the community.”
Modern Woodmen of America Representative Robert Hall helped pay for the beautification project.
