Video: Tupelo Factory Earns Environmental Award

Tupelo, Miss. (WCBI) – A Northeast Mississippi company gets an award for its emphasis on protecting the environment.Hunter Douglas received the Corporate Award by the Mississippi Wildlife Federation. The Tupelo company was nominated for its “Adopt A Stream” program. Through that initiative, Hunter Douglas employees regularly clean and test for chemicals in Tupelo’s Town Creek. Also, the company encourages is involved in a corporate recycling program and they also provide opportunities for employees to recycle personal items.
“It means we have a very engaged workforce and when it comes to environmental stewardship and we’re very proud of the fact we have adopt a stream and also adopt a road programs, we also offer our employees the chance to recycle their products from home when they live in areas not serviced by waste companies that have curbside recycling.”
More than 130 people work at the Tupelo plant, making products for window treatments that are shipped and sold worldwide.
