COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – After September 11th, the Transportation Security Administration restricted passengers from carrying items that could be considered weapons aboard airplanes. Now, they’ve had a change of heart.
Effective April 25th, air travelers can transport pocket knives in their carry-on baggage.
The knives should be no more than 2.36 inches long, half an inch wide and cannot lock.
TSA says the new provision will allow security officers to focus on finding higher threat items like explosives. They are also allowing more sporting goods on board like billiard cues, ski poles and two golf clubs. However, no box cutters or larger knives will be permitted.
