COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- The origins of Trunk or Treating are a mystery. But, the benefits of them are well known: less walking for little kids and a safer environment for Halloween. Sunday, in Columbus several downtown churches came together to host Trunk or Treating and a Fall Festival. St. Paul’s, Annunciation, and First United Methodist Church were among the those who opened their churches and their parking lots.
Participant and Columbus resident Katherine Burdine says, they get to dress up and no one makes fun of us. We love to give the kids some candy on Halloween and our Fall Festival.
The Lead Pastor of First United Methodist Church says, ” It’s a fun safe way for us to come together and allow them an opportunity to have a fun time and the adults and parents seem to enjoy it as well”. The Trunk or Treat Fall Festival in Columbus has become one of the largest Halloween celebrations in North Mississippi.
