Video: Travis Childers Making Final Push in 2014 Senate Campaign

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -Travis Childers is also hitting the campaign trail with just a few days before Tuesday’s U.S. Senate election.  Childers has been criss crossing the state the past few weeks meeting voters and says he feels a surge of momentum. Childers believes he will bring fresh energy to Capitol Hill and is predicting a close race.

Childers says although he is a Democrat, he will not support the current leadership in the senate.

“The leadership of the United States Senate is two men that apparently do not like each other, apparently do not want to work with each other and they are doing so to the detriment of the people of this country so I will be looking for new leadership in the United States Senate if I am elected to serve in Mississippi.I will not support Senator Reid nor would I support Senator McConnell.”

Childers will continue campaigning this weekend. He, of course, faces Republican Thad Cochran in the general election.
