VIDEO: Toyota Cleans Up Tombigbee State Park
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)- This was the third year Toyota team members came to Tombigbee State Park near Tupelo, as part of National Public Lands Day. This year they concentrated on the Group camp, which has been in serious need of work.
Among the things they did, was install a volleyball and basketball court. They laid down new sod. They did some major work on the amphitheater, and refurbished some of the bunkbeds in the dormatory area.
One other major facelift came in the primitive camping area where they put up a fourth camp site.
And to prepare for such a large event, Toyota actuallly sent some team members out this past week to do some heavy lifting.
Toyota team member Jennifer Martin and her finance Sky Ray enjoyed some time together helping paint the new basketball court.
In 1937 America was in the grips of the Great Depression and as a way to put people back to work President Franklin Roosevelt created the Civilian Conservation Corps which ultimately built Tombigbee State Park.
