Video: Town and Tower Presents 2014 Community Service Awards

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) –

Some Columbus Residents are recognized for their service to the community. Columbus’ Town and Tower presented their Campus and Community Service Awards at a Holiday Luncheon on The W Campus today.

Longtime professor and W Alum, Martha Jo Mims was recognized for her service to the University with the Campus Service Award. This year’s Community Service Award went to John Davis.  Both were honored to receive the awards, but see their service as a reward in itself.

“I am blessed with good health, and I feel like I just need to take advantage of that to serve others.”

“Well, I think everybody has a responsibility to give something back to the community and to their fellow man, and I just enjoy it.”

The Columbus Police Department was also presented a Special Community Service Award.
