Video: Tishomingo County Tops List of Fiscally Responsible County Governments

IUKA, Miss. (WCBI) – One northeast Mississippi county comes out tops in the state when it comes to spending taxpayer dollars wisely.

According to “Smart Asset” Tishomingo County is first in the state when it comes to property tax dollars being spent most effectively. The study considered factors such as school rankings, crime rates and property taxes for all counties in Mississippi.

“We work good with the school system , keep school taxes down low as possible, and they rank ninth in the state, We just watch what we spend, we cut ten percent out of everybody’s budget this year to help keep taxes low , keep from raising taxes.”

Smart Asset ranked Tishomingo County third in the nation for fiscally responsible counties.
