Video: Stretch of Highway 45 Alternate Named in Memory of Late State Representative

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) -Former constituents will have a lasting memorial to late State Representative David Gibbs. Friday,  Family, friends, and state officials turned out to dedicate a portion of Highway 45 Alternate in Clay County as the Representative David Gibbs Memorial Highway.

The stretch of road runs from intersection of Highways 45 Alternate and Fifty to the Monroe County Line.His family says the honor is fitting because of Gibbs’ dedication to the people in his district.

“He taught me very well you are always supposed to do what’s right, and treat everybody as you want to be treated. And that’s the way I was raised, and that’s the way I live my life. And I am going to serve my constituents the same way he did.”

Gibbs represented District 36 in the State House for 20 years. His son Karl now holds that seat.
