Video: Starkville Fire Department Christens 2 New Trucks
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) –New fire trucks in Starkville may mean a savings for local residents.
The fire department and the City of Starkville dedicated the two new engines Tuesday.
The state fire insurance rebate funds covered the total cost – 1.1 million dollars for both trucks.
Starkville Fire Chief Charles Yarbrough says the new trucks are the key to lowering the insurance rating for the city of Starkville.
“Right now we are at a four and in order to get down to a three which would save the citizens money on insurance, we had to replace two of our aging engines. In addition to that, manpower issues are being addressed and once we get that done, hopefully, we’ll get that down to a three.”
The new trucks will be put into service at Fire Stations 3 and 5.
