Video: Shannon Residents Come Together to Remember Student-Athlete

SHANNON, Miss. (WCBI) –The Shannon High School community gathered to is remember a young man it lost.

People met in the gym Thursday night to light candles in memory of Kam’Ron Billups.

The 16 year old died Monday in a car crash.

They released 52 balloons in honor of his football jersey number.

Kam’ron was a two-sport athlete, and those who new him say he could light up a room when he walked in.

“Fly high 52…..We just want to be here for his family and his mom. Not just for the now but in future. It’s just a tragic accident to happen and we are going to get through it and be strong for the family.”

Visitation will be Saturday from 3 to 6 at Williams Funeral Home.

The Funeral is 3:00 PM Sunday at the Lee County Agri-Center.
