Video: Second Annual “9 11 Memorial Stair Climb” Set For Next Month

TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – There is still time to get involved with a unique event that honors the heroes who died in the terror attacks of Nine Eleven.

On Saturday, September the ninth,  the “Second Annual Tupelo 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb” will take place inside the Bancorpsouth Arena.

Participants will climb the equivalent of 110 stories throughout the arena, to remember the firefighter, law officers and EMTs who lost their lives at the World Trade Center.

Each participant will get a badge with one of the fallen heroes from that day.

“We want to continue to pay tribute to those so we don’t forget what happened sixteen years ago as time goes on and remember those guys who ran in, knowing the chances of them coming out alive was slim,” said Melinds Monts, president of the Tupelo Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary.

The deadline for registering in time to guarantee a shirt is August 24th.   A portion of the proceeds will go to the National Fallen Firefighters Association.  For information on how to register, go to https://www.facebook.com/pg/Tupelo911MemorialClimb/
