LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- Sifting through debris at her mother’s Louisville home, Jeana Kowerduck can’t believe her childhood home is now a pile of rubble.
“This was basically her security. She had a paid for house. And she was kind of holing onto that, said Jeana.
Jeana says her mother hid in the hallway. The tornado could not have come at a worse time.
“Mama is still in shock from losing my daddy. He passed away on Monday the 14th. We hadn’t even gone through my dad’s stuff yet and we don’t even have daddy’s death certificate yet,” said Jeana.
She’s looking for other mementos through the rubble. They were able to find one significant item that reminded her of her father.
“We actually found some of his knives that we had not been able to find, which is just funny because we looked everywhere but these were the ones he kept in his pocket and used all the time,” said Jeana.
This isn’t Jeana’s first brush with storm damage, but this particular path literally hit close to home.
“I saw what the F5 did in Harvest, Alabama 3 years ago. 3 years and one day later it was my stuff, my mother. My mother was in it. It was different when it was someone else’s. It’s different when you’re cleaning up someone else’s items, but when it’s something from your childhood, your own daddy, your own mama. It’s different,” said Jeana.
Jeana says her mother is now staying with relatives in Philadelphia, MS.
