LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Two Lee County residents are in jail after law enforcement officers served a search warrant at a business authorities say is a spot for trouble. Late last week, Lee County Sheriff’s Deputies served a search warrant at the Skyline Community Center. Sheriff Jim Johnson says the warrant was the result of an ongoing investigation into the distribution of illegal narcotics and receipt of stolen property. Deputies arrested 21 year old Haley Mask and charged her with possession of a firearm. Fifty year old Richard Franks was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Sheriff Johnson says some people were living in the building, which had already been condemned:
“It’s very unsafe, they’re taking their matter, or their life into their own hands by occupying this thing, regardless of whether it be for residential, or for general purposes of the general public, so it’s a very unsafe environment.”
Sheriff Johnson says other stolen property was recovered at the building, located in the 2800 block of Highway 178. Bond for Mask was set at $5,000, while Franks bond was set at $30,000.
