TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Tupelo’s Salvation Army is making preparations to house more people as the temperatures are expected to drop.
The Red Shield Lodge is always full, so the Salvation Army’s Carnation Street Community Center will be opened to anyone who needs to get out of the elements.
Mattresses are in place as more people are expected to need shelter during the evening hours.
“But this is nice to have the cots available, because it’s just too cold to stay out there on the streets, I can’t even imagine having to lay down at night, the things we need now, I did have a donation of pillows the other day, I could use a few more pillows and some towels, we have sheets, blankets, we have cots, just towels and pillows.”
Also, if it stays below 40 degrees, people can stay at the Salvation Army during the day.
