Video: Saban Discusses Alabama’s Issues at Home vs. Scoreboard

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WCBI/UA Athletics) – The University of Alabama football team practiced in full pads for two hours on Wednesday afternoon outdoors on the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields.

The team continued to work on its gameplan to counter the Tennessee offense, one of the Southeastern Conference’s top-ranked units. The annual “Third Saturday in October” matchup between the Crimson Tide and Volunteers is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff inside Bryant-Denny Stadium and will air live on CBS. Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson will work from the booth, while Allie LaForce focuses on the sidelines.

Alabama and Tennessee will meet for the 98th time in a rivalry that dates back to the 1901 season. UA owns the all-time series advantage, 51-38-7 (52-37-8 actual), and has won the last five meetings in Tuscaloosa. Head coach Nick Saban is a perfect 8-0 against the Volunteers while leading the Crimson Tide, including a 34-20 victory in Knoxville last season.

Earlier in the day, Minkah Fitzpatrick earned his third weekly honor after being selected as an honorable mention selection for the Jim Thorpe Player of the Week. Fitzpatrick was a key piece to the Tide’s success last weekend in College Station over ninth-ranked Texas A&M. The freshman defensive back became the only player in Alabama history to return two interceptions for touchdowns, with each score going for 33 and 55 yards, respectively.
