Video: Ringling Brothers Eliminating Elephants From Road Shows

NATIONWIDE – It made national headlines in April of 2013. Carol, an elephant traveling with the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, was shot during a stop in Tupelo. Well, Carol and her fellow pachyderm performers are being phased out of the shows.

Circus officials say growing public concern about how the animals are treated led to the decision.

The show will continue to feature other animal performers including the tiger and lion acts.

The elephants shows will end by 2018.
