MANTACHIE, Miss. (WCBI) – The gloomy weather didn’t put a damper on 27th annual Mantachie Fest.
It is the oldest annual gathering in Itawamba County. It has been held on the third weekend of September since Ronald Reagan was president.
Besides live entertainment, there were plenty of vendors, and more food than a person can possibly stomach.
Tina Harris is the festival chair.
“The Mantanchie Fest is great because of our people,” Harris said. “We always band together and work together. And when you have a community that supports each other it just works and you draw the crowd.”
Harris says the Mantanchie Fest will continue on Sunday, with a gospel fest featuring gospel music 1:30 p.m. and a community wide church service at 6 p.m.
