NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) – Water levels have been running high on area rivers since 3 to 10 inches of rain fell across north Mississippi last Friday and Saturday.
The Tombigbee River at Amory is now 5 feet below flood stage but even at it’s current level the river is still about twice as high as it typically is during the month of July.
No significant precipitation is expected in the coming days, and that will allow the Tombigbee to continue to fall back near normal levels by early next week.
