Video: Plans Underway For ‘Almost New Year’s Party’

TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) — Plans are underway for a party to benefit a local art museum.

The second annual “Almost New Year’s Party” is set for December 27th at the Tupelo Regional Airport. This is the second year for the event, which benefits the Gumtree Museum of Art.

There will be food, drinks, entertainment by the local band ‘2 Drink Minimum’ and a few other surprises. Organizers say it’s a fun way to get a jump on New Year’s festivities while helping the museum expand its programs and outreach.

“We’re hoping that this will help us fund our educational projects we want to do, work on our permanent collection, just basic day to day operating costs, that are so hard to come by,” said Liz McIntosh, executive director of the Gumtree Museum of Art.

“It’s going to be a very fun party, it’s not going to be something you will want to miss. You’re going to wake up on Saturday morning and find out that everybody else came and you didn’t and you missed a big party so you don;t want that to happen you need to just buy a ticket and come on out,” said Scott Reed, an organizer of the event.
