Video: ‘Oversize Load’ Gets Through Tupelo On To West Point

TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) –  It was an unusual sight for motorists in the Tupelo area this morning, as a massive transformer was being escorted through town.

Tupelo Police, along with the Mississippi Highway Patrol and Lee County Sheriff’s Department, helped escort a 400 thousand pound transformer through town.

The transformer will be set up in West Point at a TVA site, replacing an old transformer.  The heavy load travelled about 10 miles an hour through Tupelo, before it headed on to West Point via Highway 45.
